Fluoroscopy is the use of an x-ray system that allows the radiologist to view x-ray images on a computer monitor over time. Many types of flouroscopic exams use different types of contrast agents that allow various organs to be watched as they function.

Your doctor might request a fluoroscopy procedure to get moving images of the heart, or a barium swallow might be involved if your esophagus is to be examined.
